Co created by Wonder for People and the Wayuu indigenous community of La Guajira, Maicao. These flat mules incorporate the pellon technique, carefully needle punching stars, thunder and moon elements on our shoe upper. This technique was handcrafted traditionally by men to adorn their horse chairs, while now integrated in a everyday contemporary fashion piece. The stars, thunder, and moon elements are all inspired by a ceremonial dance called the “Yonna”, this is a celebration that the Wayuu community has every year that lasts 24 hours. Honoring the day, and night we created these pieces.
